As violence and political division continue to shape the region, understanding the forces that influence peacebuilding becomes increasingly important. Civil society is made up of many different actors with different roles, interests, capacities, and relationships. Understanding how they interact can help us see the larger picture more clearly.
This month, join us for a live conversation with Dr. Reyad Shreem, researcher in philosophy and political sociology and lecturer at Al-Istiqlal University in Jericho, West Bank.
Drawing on his research and analysis, Dr. Shreem will explore the different parts of civil society involved in addressing the challenges of peacebuilding in the Middle East: Palestinian, Israeli, regional, and international actors. We will look at the roles they play, how these different parts interact and shape one another, and where their involvement contributes, or fails to contribute, to peacebuilding.
